“Sara Corckran was a true highlight of our online retreat. Her talk on the 12 Pillars of Emotional Healing deeply resonated with our audience — many shared how it gave them a new framework for understanding and supporting their healing journeys. Sara has a warm, grounded presence that immediately puts people at ease. She was incredibly interactive, drawing our audience in and creating a space that felt both safe and empowering. Her delivery style is compassionate yet clear, and the content she shared was rich with insight and real-life application. Behind the scenes, she was an absolute joy to work with — professional, thoughtful, and deeply committed to making a meaningful impact. I'd welcome her back any time and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a heart-centered speaker.”

Surviving to Thriving Through Hope, Self-compassion, and Purposeful Action
Sara Corckran has been the patient in the bed and the caregiver in the chair — and she’s built a career helping others navigate both. As a breast cancer survivor and former caregiver, Sara speaks from lived experience, not just theory, giving her audiences a rare authenticity that resonates whether they’re facing illness, uncertainty, or any of life’s overwhelming transitions.
A former educator with 20 years of teaching experience, Sara combines that background with certifications in coaching, positive psychology, and Positive Intelligence to translate hard-won personal insight into practical, evidence-informed tools. Rather than lecture, she facilitates — offering tools, chances to practice them, and moments for audiences to connect with one another. She holds a bachelor’s from Penn State and a master’s from Johns Hopkins University.
Sara is the author of the Amazon-bestselling, award-winning book Grit and Grace: How to Find Clarity and Optimism in Overwhelming Situations — recipient of a Gold Medal from the Global Book Awards and a Silver Award from the Nonfiction Book Awards. In it, she introduces her 12-pillar framework, a practical roadmap for transforming “Why me?” into “Watch me.” Her presentations are interactive and deeply human, helping audiences move from surviving to thriving through hope, self-compassion, and purposeful action.
Sara has spoken for Johns Hopkins Medicine, Luminis Health, SurvivingBreastCancer.org, Living Beyond Breast Cancer, the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, and the Smith Center for Healing and the Arts, among others.
Tagline: Resilience from the inside out — real stories and practical tools for life’s hardest seasons, lived rather than theorized.

Sara’s Approach: The Nugget Method
Sara doesn’t lecture — she facilitates. Her hallmark is what she calls the “nugget of wisdom” approach: in a typical hour, she offers about three nuggets, and each one follows the same satisfying rhythm — a bit of science to ground it, a practical tool to support it, and a chance to practice it right there in the room, often while connecting with someone nearby. She brings props and hands-on materials that make the ideas tangible and the experience interactive. Audiences don’t just listen and leave — they practice, they connect, and they walk out with tools already in hand.
Honest Resilience: The Balance of Grit and Grace
(Signature Keynote, 60 min)
Most of us were raised on grit — push harder, do more, prove your worth by what you accomplish. But grit alone eventually breaks us. In this signature keynote, drawn from the 12 pillars of resilience in her award-winning book Grit and Grace, Sara redefines resilience as the ability to return — to come back to ourselves when life pulls us off center. Through her own journey of caregiving and cancer, and a blend of gratitude science, positive psychology, nervous system regulation, and post-traumatic growth, she moves audiences from powering through to genuinely healing. Interactive from the first minute and rich with practical tools — including her signature G.R.A.C.E. framework — this talk leaves audiences grounded, hopeful, and equipped to say yes to their whole story.
What you’ll learn:
- Why “powering through” quietly leads to burnout — and how to recognize when your body is asking you to return
- The G.R.A.C.E. tool: a simple, repeatable practice for grounding and steadying yourself in hard moments
- How gratitude, self-compassion, and connection work as physiological medicine — and how “benefit-finding” turns hardship into strength, insight, and clarity
Finding Your Center — and the Way Back When You Lose It
Life pulls us outward all day long — toward roles, expectations, and everyone else’s needs. Each pull knocks us a little off center. This talk teaches audiences how to find their personal baseline of calm — their “reference point for peace and ease” — notice the moment they’ve been pulled away from it, and return, with real physiological payoff through nervous system regulation. Sara draws on the mental-fitness principle of “responding to the right of the decimal point”: catching the small signals early, so the body doesn’t have to shout to be heard.
What you’ll learn:
- How to identify your own “ground place” of ease — and why knowing your baseline is the foundation of resilience
- The skill of noticing early — small, steady, graceful adjustments before stress becomes overwhelm
- Simple grounding practices you can use anywhere, anytime, in the middle of a busy day
Steady Hands, Steady Heart: Nervous System Regulation for Nurses
Nurses spend their days holding steady for everyone else — often at the cost of their own nervous systems. This session teaches nurses how to find their personal baseline of calm, notice the moment they’ve been pulled out of it, and return to it in the middle of a chaotic shift. Rooted in the science of nervous system regulation and built for the realities of the floor, it offers small, repeatable practices that fit into real workdays — no app, no extra hour, no quiet room required.
What you’ll learn:
- How to identify your own baseline of ease — the foundation of resilience
- Discreet techniques to down-regulate a stressed nervous system in seconds, even mid-shift
- How to catch dysregulation early, before it hardens into burnout
Mental Fitness: Training the Mind the Way We Train the Body
We accept that physical fitness takes daily practice — but rarely apply the same idea to our minds. Drawing on the science of Positive Intelligence, Sara reframes resilience as mental fitness: a trainable set of muscles, not a fixed trait. Audiences learn to recognize the inner “saboteurs” — the Judge, the Hyper-Achiever, the People-Pleaser — that keep the nervous system stuck in low-grade stress and fuel rumination and self-criticism, and to shift, in real time, into the calmer, clearer “Sage” perspective. Especially powerful for high-stress professionals and healthcare teams, this session makes steadiness feel achievable, because it’s built on practice rather than willpower.
What you’ll learn:
- How to catch your inner critic in the act — and why noticing, not fighting, is the shift that works
- How to quiet the spin of rumination and negative self-talk before it takes over
- The link between mental fitness, nervous system regulation, and overall health — and why “20% insight, 80% practice” is the path that lasts
12 Tools for Emotional Strength (Book-Based Workshop)
A deeper-dive workshop drawn directly from the 12-pillar framework in Sara’s award-winning book Grit and Grace. Ideal for retreats, half-day sessions, and multi-part programs, this format hands audiences a full toolkit they can start using immediately — teaching the pillars of resilience one by one, with time to practice each. Every tool is small, doable, and rooted in positive psychology, designed to build steadiness that lasts long after the session ends.
What you’ll learn:
- A set of concrete, repeatable tools for navigating hard moments
- How to turn “Why me?” into “Watch me” through everyday choices
- Which tools to reach for first when life feels overwhelming
