Joe Piscatella

Healthy Heart Author, Lifestyle Expert

Joe Piscatella is one of the foremost authorities on lifestyle habits and cardiac health in the United States. His experience of coronary bypass surgery at age 32 in 1977, and his subsequent reversal of heart disease, gives his books, lectures and television programs a practical perspective audiences appreciate.

President of the Institute for Fitness and Health, he lectures extensively on wellness throughout the United States, Canada and Great Britain to hospitals and medical schools, Fortune 1000 companies and professional associations. Joe is a national expert on the link between lifestyle habits and health, longevity and productivity. Joe is in pre-production with PBS television to do a one-hour national show based on his speaking program.

Joe is the author of Don’t Eat Your Heart Out and eleven other best-selling books. They have sold over 6 million copies and are used by more than 5500 hospitals and corporate organizations in health education programs. His newest are Prevent, Halt & Reverse Heart Disease, a cutting-edge book on stress, diet and exercise (co-authored by Dr. Barry Franklin) and Positive Mind, Healthy Heart, a book to motivate and inspire healthy lifestyle habits, and The Road to Healthy Heart Runs Through the Kitchen, straight information on a healthy diet. Joe is the host of three PBS television specials including the most recent program, “Take A Load Off Your Heart.”

As a spokesman for a healthy lifestyle, he is a frequent guest on television and radio programs, including CNN, The Today Show and Good Morning America, and is a regular contributor to national publications. He has been the fitness expert for KIRO-TV in Seattle. Joe has served as the only non-medical member of the National Institutes of Health Cardiac Rehabilitation Expert Panel charged with developing clinical practice guidelines for physicians.
